Finding the path that is actually right for you, then finding the Coyotes already on it.
80% of Jeremy's grad school classmates quit their first job within two years - from jobs everyone calls the sexiest in the world. They left because the job was not right for them.
Beating the applicant tracking system, then going around it entirely with a referral.
A referral used to make you 10x more likely to get hired. In 2026, it is 20x - because AI broke everyone's ability to tell real from fake.
Acing the interview, and building your own AI tools without writing a line of code.
Communication appears on more job descriptions in 2026 than AI skills and Microsoft Office combined. The things that matter now are the things that always mattered.
LinkedIn + AI for Career Exploration
You get one life. Spend it on the path that is right for you, not the one that looks good on TikTok.
And when recruiters go looking for you, they are not searching for your degree or your alma mater - everybody has those. They search for what you can do. Your LinkedIn headline should answer that question, not just say "Student at USD."
Tools we used
ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini - whichever you already use. The magic is not the tool, it is that it remembers your past conversations and can reflect you back to yourself.
If your screen is blank and you have no idea what your strengths are, that is exactly what Prompt 1 below is for.
The single most underused feature on LinkedIn, and the one Jeremy's team built at LinkedIn for exactly this moment. Type a job title and see every Coyote already doing it.
Go to the USD school page, click the Alumni tab, then search a job title in the "What they do" box.
Open the USD alumni page →Turns any LinkedIn profile - theirs or yours - into a PDF you can hand straight to AI.
On any profile: click the three dots under the headline, then Save to PDF.
The crystal ball. Built from 1.3 million real profiles, it shows which jobs your current skills already transfer to, and where people go next after a given role. Play chess, not checkers.
Enter a job title and a city. Reverse-engineer it too: a role's skill list doubles as the exact keyword checklist for your profile.
thejobinsiders.com/explorer →Found a skill gap in Career Explorer? Most gaps are a one-hour course, not another degree. Nearly every public library in the country gives you LinkedIn Learning for free.
Get a Vermillion Public Library card, then search "[your library] LinkedIn Learning" to find the login door.

Do not worry about matching the wording exactly. The shape of the question is what matters.
When you stare at the ikigai diagram and your mind goes blank. Works because your AI has been listening to you for months.
Based on everything you know about me from our past conversations, what are three of my biggest strengths?
The bridge from "I am good at things" to the language recruiters actually search for. This is Contest #1.
What are 10 job titles that are uniquely a great fit for my passions and my expertise?
The follow-up Jeremy mentioned between contests. Do not stop at ten titles that sound nice - make it rank them against you specifically.
Stack rank those 10 roles from best to worst fit for me specifically, and for each one tell me the single biggest reason it might not work out.
Once you have found an alum worth talking to. AI is a great email detective.
What is the most common email format for employees at [Company]?
Before any alum chat. Save their profile to PDF first, attach it, and attach your own profile too.
Here is an alum's LinkedIn profile and my own. What are 10 questions to ask this alum to discover if their role is a great fit for my skills and passions?
The play, step by step
- Fix your headline. Not "Student at USD." What can you do for them tomorrow?
- Run prompts 1 and 2 to get from strengths to ten real job titles.
- Pick one title that genuinely excites you and search it in the USD Alumni tab.
- Connect, do not message. Messaging a stranger needs LinkedIn Premium at about $50/month. Connect with a note is free and works better anyway.
- Find their email with prompt 4 - because most people check LinkedIn every few months and email every few seconds.
- Look for the mutual connections at the top of their profile. That warm intro is LinkedIn's real superpower.
- Save their profile to PDF and run prompt 5 before you ever get on the call.

A human decides whether you get the interview. Never forget that, because it means you have far more power than the headlines suggest.
The applicant tracking system is not an algorithm out to crush you. It is triage - the same thing an EMT does, because they cannot save everyone. Your job is to make yourself easy to save.
Tools we used
Jeremy built this so you can sit on the other side of the desk. Search for a skill and watch what the system actually surfaces - and why experience beats a skills list every time.
thejobinsiders.com/ats →A recruiter asks for your resume and you do not have one handy. Three dots on your own profile, Save to PDF, done - a decent resume in about four seconds.
LinkedIn now reads plain English, so you can search "cutting-edge tech with a focus on computer processing" instead of guessing at exact titles. Then set an alert so the golden window comes to you.
On any search: toggle Set alert. Do not try to remember to search every morning.
A free, more current staff directory than the one the company keeps on its own servers. IBM alone has 343,000 people on it.
Company page → People tab → filter by "Where they studied." Add all the USD schools - the main university, Beacom School of Business, School of Education. It is an OR search, and they are all Coyotes.

No mutual connection? Then warm yourself up. Two or three sentences, and you go from stranger to member of the tribe.
Hi [Name],
I am a [junior] at USD and I am so passionate about [building the next generation of tech]. So I was really excited when I came across your profile, because I can see that you are doing it at the biggest level in the world.
I know you must be incredibly slammed, but any chance you have even 10 minutes for a quick chat next week? I would love to learn from your experience.
Better than any cold message. Pick the person who knows you best and also knows them best, and ask for one thing.
[Mutual connection], could you please introduce me to [Name]?
People like talking about their companies. They love talking about themselves. This is generativity, and it is real psychology.
How did you go from USD to [Company]?
What surprised you along the way?
What do you wish you had known back when you were in my shoes?
Write this one down. Ask it when they glance at their watch and say they have to run. Do not ask to be passed to someone else - go deeper, not wider.
This was awesome and I know you have to run. If I could ask for one last piece of advice: if you were back in my shoes at USD, trying to break into [Company] all over again, knowing what you know now, what would you be doing to get your best shot?

Communication appears on more job descriptions in 2026 than AI skills or Microsoft Office. That is employers walking the talk.
Because hiring runs on a second algorithm - the human one. Ask anyone in the world what they want in a teammate and you get the same two answers: competence, and warmth. Can you do the job, and do I want to do it with you. Ignore the noise, focus on the signal.
Tools we used
AI interview practice out loud. Where ChatGPT can make you sound more robotic, this makes you more human - you pick the role, the company, and the interviewer's personality, then you actually talk.
We ran it as Simon Cowell on purpose. Practice in front of a mirror just reinforces bad habits; the reps only count when something pushes back. Heads up, the free Starter plan gives you 5 lifetime sessions, so save them for real prep.
yoodli.ai →Amazon's no-code AI playground. You describe a problem in plain English and Whiskers, the cat assistant, builds you a working app. We went from idea to shipped and shareable in under five minutes.
Sign in with an Amazon, Google or Apple account. Click Create a Flow, tell Whiskers what you want, then hit the share arrow at the top right and choose "Anyone with the link" to make it real.
partyrock.aws →Situation, Task, Action, Result. It looks arbitrary until you notice it is just human storytelling. The Odyssey is a STAR story: lost at sea, get home, fight the Cyclops, back to Penelope.
Almost every behavioral question - "tell me about a time," "describe a time" - is asking for a STAR story. And a good interviewer will always dig past your first polished answer, so prepare for the follow-up too.

Paste this to Whiskers in PartyRock. The framework is problem, then solution: here is what is not good in the world, here is how I want you to make it better.
I want to build a tool that helps [who has the problem] with [the problem they have].
Start by letting them share [what goes in], and then give them [what should come out].
A real dev team would groan. Whiskers says no problem. Microsoft took years between versions - you get seconds, so use them.
This is great, but can you add a section at the bottom with specific resources that the user can consult to continue their exploration?
Practice run, step by step
- Find a real job description for a role you actually want.
- Run prompt 1 to get your ten likely questions.
- Run prompt 2 on question one, using your real CV.
- Open Yoodli and set up the same role and company.
- Pick the tough interviewer - stressful beats friendly, because getting your butt kicked a little is the whole point.
- Say it out loud. Great storytelling is not charisma floating in the air. It is a series of decisions: the words you choose, whether you listen or monologue, your delivery, what you focus on.
- Get feedback and go again. Practice without feedback just makes your bad habits permanent.
